Woolfest, I came I saw, I purchased very little and I met plenty:)

I went to Woolfest today and had a fabulous allbeit very tiring time. I was going to stay 2 days but sadly health stuff made it impractical. Mr Mog dropped me off at 5past 10 and the first person I saw, who kindly let me in the queue was Wye Sue. As I started to move up the queue who should be making their way to the entry but Jo It was so fantastic to finally meet up and we promised to talk more once we got inside. There was so much colour that at first I was totally overwhelmed. Wye Sue was very helpful to this newbie, thank you Sue and it was so great to meet you finally. The list of folks I met was far too long to link to but Ruth Woollie Wormhead, India Midnight Knitter, Carrie Acrylic Yarn, English Jo, Flossie knits, to name a few.Jo and I exchanged gifts and once I get my new camera I'll show you what Jo did for me:)
Sadly my digital camera blew up yesterday so all my photos were on the old camera phone. I'll find the lead and upload them tomorrow.
I met the lovely Jenni from Fyberspates, Natalie from Yarn Yard and many more. I was extremely good and only purchased 2 skeins of mohair(naturally) from Jenni plus some mogggie, turtle and sheep buttons from the button lady. I think the wide choice was too much and I didn't know where to look. However Natalie, if you do dye mohair I will of course have to sample it.
I found it very tiring and the cafe was way too busy all the time. Hard to get food or drink. I rang Mr Mog and he came to get me and took me to Sainsburys for a sandwich before I returned for the final onslaught. I am pleased I went, it was so wonderful to meet the online folks I know.
Pictures tomorrow

Sursa a WIP

Here you see current progress on my Sursa shawl in silk garden from Noro. I love simple knits when I'm watching TV or reading:) This is the first time I've made this particular pattern. I'm not doing the edging with the suggested yarn, also Noro. I am using some Annabel Fox double knitting in a cobalt which looks good with the silk garden. Darn I've just realised, water colours again:)

Deviation from knitting for mermaids and a Calorimetry

Yes I blush to disclose that I have sinned. I have deviated from knitting to a little stitchery witchery:)Here you see my current obsession, mermaids. I have wanted to make a small wall hanging for my altar since before we moved. Here you see a few sample pieces. Still not sure on what the finished altar one will be like.I have been thinking of mermaids lately for several reasons.
Firstly we have moved to the coast and mermaids and the sea go together.
Secondly water goddesses , I am drawn towards the water goddesses more at the moment. That too could be the move and also of course water is tied into emotions, feelings.
Thirdly the wheel I live on is not a fixed circle, or at least I do try not to live in a fixed way. It is a spiral always moving outwards and upwards. With occasional moves back inward. Such is life:)Setbacks are part of what makes us grow.(Keep on telling yourself that Amber ) The other thing that made me get the sewing stuff out was the mermaid fabric from Laurel Burch. I love Laurels stuff, it always makes me smile. Not just the subject but also the colours she uses.
Add them together and you get the pictures here. The first 2 are various hand dyed fabrics, machine and hand stitched. Third is the start of another one, sans mermaid at the moment.
Then I made a calorimetry, again:) Picture is a little fuzzy because the wool is. But isn't the colour gorgeous? I've a couple more balls of it so I feel a mixed shawl in it's future.
Watch the next post for current progress on Sursa

Finished shawl , burnet moth?and yarn p@rn

a mixed bag for you today:)
Firstly the shawl is finished and here is a pic of it. I am afraid it wasn't easy to photograph as it is so heavy and wouldn't stay on the tree:) This was the Woolmeise/Colinette silky chic mix. I love the 2 yarns together and wow is it silky, soft and feels fabulous on:)
Angeluna This is the first shawl with Woolmeise yarn and won't be the last. I used my chevron shawl pattern from just one more row I am planning to make my next but one shawl purely using the woolmeise. Looking for something lacey and simple for it.
Mr Mog while photographing the yarn and shawl in the garden came across this fabulous moth. Think its a burnet moth? Gorgeous colours on it.
Finally yarn p@rn. The 3 skeins plus gift from Dee at posh yarn Isn't it yummy? Its the new kid lace so soft and ideal for hospice shawls.

SP parcel arrives, knitters treat arrives:))

Wow what a fabulous day today. My second SP10 parcel arrived and my knitters treat parcel. Overwhelmed with wonderful stuff:)

knitters treat, well you can see all the wonderful stuff my pal sent me. It took a while to get here, think it took the scenic route for some reason. I know my pal was worried as much as me because the card came very speedily. However here it is in all its glory and so many goodies to play with. Thank you so much:))
From chocolate(eaten already) to yarn via hand cream, books and a bag, soap , a box for stitch markers, a wash cloth, needles. Truly a magnificent parcel. Now I just need to know that mine arrived with my pal.
Secondly my second parcel from Yvonne in the SP10.
A mix of things for all the senses. Incense and charcoal to burn it on, I love incense and while I make my own I especially like to sample other types so this is a great gift:)
Chocolate, yumm yum:)
A purple candle, ideal for my goddess altar:)
pink mohair? yarn that my SP couldn't use and hoped I'd like, Would I ever refuse mohair:))
some purpley tweed yarn and a new shawl pattern for using with it:)) Wow this looks advanced, I can see the mog enjoying the challenge.
Thank you Yvonne I am so lucky to have you as my SP

I've sent my knitters treat and ISE scarf off weeks ago. I'm hoping they hurry up and arrive with folks.
I do have a finished object to show you, guess what it is? Yes a shawl how did you guess? My june shawl a mix of unknown yellow mohair and fleece artist eyelash. I love the colour mix
I'm almost finished with the colinette silky chic and woolmeise sock yarn purple one also. That should be finished this weekend and is for me.

Promenading in the sun and Woolfest

Finished the unpacking and the hanging up of pictures, goddesses and so forth so we had a day off and spent a couple of hours on the promenade. I love the wide open space, plenty of room for cycles, walkers, prams and wheelchairs fortunately:) The weather was glorious and warm so really made me feel better. I do love the heat, it helps these bones of mine. We are around 5 minutes drive from the promenade which isn't too bad. There was plenty of disabled parking to be had.The view across the bay was so clear, we could see all the mountains of the Lake district. In knitting news, I've finished the shawl for June lunar month and I'm now back working on the purpley one that was Colinette silky chic mixed with Wollmeise yarn. Colinette had run out of the colour I wanted but did dye more and send within the week. I've just got round to using it as I wanted to finish the lunar one first. This purply one will be for me, it feels fabulous and is all the colours I love:)
Pictures this week, think I've found the camera.
Anyone going to Woolfest?
